SALARY
- £33,600 to £44,100 – basic salary
- Plus bonus potential up to £500 per month

HOURS
- Monday – Friday 8.30am to 5.00pm
- Only 1 in 4 Saturday mornings (paid as overtime)
THE ROLE
- Carry out services, diagnosis and repairs of vehicles
- Utilise specialist equipment such as electrical and electronic diagnostics
- Replacing components
- Speaking with customers on occasion to provide your expert, technical opinion
- Maintaining good housekeeping standards and orderly administration of your work
- Maintaining thorough and up to date product knowledge
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE NEEDED
- Level 3 Vehicle Maintenance & Repair Certificate
- Time served Technician, ideally within a main dealership
- Must hold a full UK driving licence
About FG Barnes & Sons Ltd
They are the longest standing Vauxhall Dealership in UK – still trading successfully as a family business for 126 years trading Family Business.
Our company began in 1899, specialising in tar-spraying machines. Young engineer Frederick George Barnes purchased a small business in Godalming and initially focused on maintaining steam road rollers. His skills soon led him to service the emerging “horseless carriages” and invent a tar-spraying machine to create durable, dust-free roads—a major innovation of the time. After World War I, the business diversified into hire cars and a driving school. In 1920, Barnes became a Chevrolet dealer, marking the start of a partnership with General Motors. By 1922, his sons joined the company, and in 1936, they opened a Guildford site. Following F.G. Barnes’ passing, his sons expanded the business, supplying Vauxhall and Bedford vehicles, and moved to larger premises in Slyfield Green in 1971.
Today, Chief Executive Officer Rob Walford leads the business, with the grandson of FG Barnes continuing to play a role. With our background of excellence, innovation and dedication, FG Barnes stands as a testament to care, craftsmanship and continuity.
